The mobile app provides comprehensive patient management for neonatal eye care.
Creating a Patient
Required Information
When creating a new patient, you'll need:

| First Name | Patient's first name |
| Last Name | Patient's last name |
| Date of Birth | Birth date |
| Gender | Male, Female, or Other |
| Hospital Number | Unique identifier within your facility |
Birth Information
Additional birth-related data:

| Birth Weight | Weight at birth in grams |
| Gestational Age | Weeks of gestation at birth |
Creating a New Patient
- From the home screen, tap "New Patient"
- Fill in required demographics
- Enter birth information
- The Hospital Number must be unique within your facility
- Tap "Save" to create the patient
Duplicate Detection
NexusHealth uses fuzzy matching to detect potential duplicate patients:
- Checks name similarity
- Compares date of birth
- Matches hospital numbers
- Alerts you before creating duplicates
When a potential match is found:
- Review the suggested matches
- Select an existing patient if it's a match
- Or confirm creation of a new patient
Searching Patients
Quick Search
- Use the search bar on the home screen
- Type patient name or hospital number
- Results appear as you type
Filters
Filter the patient list by:
- Date range (examination date)
- Risk level (Low, Moderate, High)
- Follow-up status (Due, Overdue)
- Facility (if multi-facility access)
Patient Profile
The patient profile shows:
Demographics Section
- Name and date of birth
- Gender
- Hospital number
- Birth weight and gestational age
Examination History
- List of all examinations
- Date and findings summary
- Risk assessment
- Quick access to details
Actions
- New Examination: Start a new ROP examination
- Schedule Follow-up: Set a follow-up appointment
- Edit: Update patient demographics
- View History: Compare examinations over time
Editing a Patient
- Open the patient profile
- Tap the Edit button
- Update the necessary fields
- Tap Save to confirm changes
Note: Hospital Number can only be changed by facility administrators.
Patient History Comparison
View how findings have changed over time:
- Open patient profile
- Tap "View History"
- Select examinations to compare
- View side-by-side findings
- Charts show progression (Radar/Bar visualization)
Best Practices
- Always check for existing patients before creating new ones
- Use consistent naming conventions
- Record accurate birth information for proper screening schedules
- Keep hospital numbers consistent with your facility's system
- Review examination history before each new exam
